Family Life

When I started this blog it was Monday October 25 it's now Wednesday October 27th! I just can't seem to get it together this week...I actually have a whole other blog title that I want to post but I'm no where near done with writing it and I think it has to be done in two parts. How's that for trying to bait some readers?

We have had two wonderful, relaxing weekends in a row! How did I get so lucky? I have made a lot of progress on hat orders! It's been nice just hanging out at home and enjoying family time. Even if all my hard work from the week gets demolished in two days... it's worth just being together. We have been having lots of family time. Just us...being, creating, cooking and hanging out. All my favorite things to do.

Friday night Jett had a Belt Promotion ceremony at his dojo. For those who do not know Jettson has been taking Karate since April. He has moved up 2 belts since. He loves it and if I might say so myself, pretty darn good at it. Karate has given Jettson the ability to focus and be able to regulate himself. It's so amazing to watch your child do something they are proud of and take seriously.

The boys have had many projects of their own going on. They bulit a treehouse with dad, built a knox box (is that what's called?) garden in our community area on our condo property. Here is a great plug for living in the Capitola Knolls. When Chris and I purchased back in 2000 we had no idea how wonderful it would be to live here and raise our boys here. We have about an acre of empty community property that we have been able to utilize. At one point the undevelopled area was suppose to be an area for family gatherings such as bbq's and the like, but they company building the condos at the time never got around to it. It's such a lovely area---we call it the "woods" there is actually an wise old owl who lives back there, along with some very naughty racoons. We have enjoyed condo community living over the years, and now with all the real estate issues and the economy we are grateful that we bought when we did and where we did. We have the added bonus of having everything taken care of, landscaping, maintenance, pool and spa with all the upkeep that goes on with that, our houses were just repainted. Our Condo Association has done a wonderful job keeping our property looking amazing. In any event, we are just so happy when we come home. Best of all the boys always say that they love their "house." That is the best feeling of all.

This is a portrait of family life...the comings and goings of four individuals...I think that it's amazing that throughout the ebb and flow of a day each person's needs are met through food, the comfort of a hug or kiss, talking, creating and connecting.

Here are a few pics from our weekend:

The "treehouse" it's more like a tree seat. Jettson drew up plans to show his dad so that he knew exactly how to build it.

He is singing in his treehouse.

Daddy and his boys hard at work on the garden.

Owen taking a dirt bath.

He was so dirty and all the other brown stuff you see is paint!

Abada and Jettson right b4 belt promotion.

Test 1

Jett and his friend Matthew with their new belts.

Have a Happy Rest of the Week. xoc
