Today I went to Gizdich Ranch with my boys and our friends Leona and Tabitha. I picked 8 and 3/4 lbs of olallieberries! Last year I picked 9 lbs. Last year I made about 20 jars of jam, that I'm now out of and have had people asking me when I was going to be making more. This year I have few other ideas in store for my berries one of which will be an Olallieberry syrup. I made an Olallieberry martini last season but it did not turn out the way I had imagined...so this time I'm going to try a thin syrup for my drink and see what I come with.
All washed and cleaned and ready for canning, baking and syrup making.
It was a beautiful day for picking. The weather was just right, not too warm, not too chilly...perfect. The boys definitely had the best time this year picking. Jett was counting and eating berries and really into picking...while Owen on the other hand, decided that it was much better to throw dirt clods into the berry bushes.
Here are some photos of our day...

Flowers from the garden. Getting ready for yet another round of cousins to visit. I have little more time to get the room ready for Cousin Kim so I went out to the garden to find some roses that were ready for display.
It was a just another day in paradise! Living by the sea with boys and good friends.
