The other night I was watching junk tv and was struck by a comment someone made, "you gotta show up for the big stuff." For some reason this really struck me. I have so many close family and friends sometimes, I am not always able to be there for everything. However, when I heard this comment it made so much sense and sorta streamlined priorities for me. I need to show up for the big stuff. I need to be there whenever I can, sure, I get that...but there are times when I am pretty busy with kids and just my own stuff. The big stuff is whatever is important to that person and usually it's stuff like, dance recitals, a baseball game, turning a certain age, a baby's christening...you get the idea. This weekend we had some "big stuff" to show up for.
My niece, Kayla Hadland had her very first dance recital. It was so cute!! Our whole family was there to cheer Kayla on. This is the stuff life is made of. She is such a fun kid and we just get a huge kick out her.
As I posted in my last post titled "Cousin's." My cousin Kimberly, her son Steven and his friend, Andrew came to up to Capiola from San Luis Obispo to celebrate Steve's 16th Birthday!! He and his friend had a blast riding BMX, going to the Boardwalk, Capitola Village and just hanging out. I cannot believe Steven is 16 already! Time is going by so quickly. I'm so glad that we were able to celebrate this milestone with Steven. He is a young man now, he is no longer a boy. Happy Birthday Steven!
Andrew and Steven
Jettson and Steven! They look like brothers!
It's fun to get together and just be goofy! Today is the first day of summer and we certainly have kicked it off to a good start. We also celebrated Father's Day this weekend. It sorta got overshadowed by all the other stuff that we've been doing. Hubs just had a nice day being with his family. He is such a great father. The boys have a lot to be thankful for. Their dad is the best!!
Lastly, remember all those Olallieberries I picked last week? Well. they went from this....
To this.....
I had orginally made 20 jars of jam, however, I'm already down to 9 jars, a gave a few away and Jettson has already gone through half a jar this weekend! Strawberries are next, then blackberries!
Have a great first week of summer everyone! xoC
