Meet and Greet Potluck at Main Street Elementary

This morning was a busy one. I had to get the boys ready for the Meet and Greet at school and then we had to go grocery shopping before we had to be at the meet and greet. While getting ready Jettson started asking me a lot of questions. Jett: "Where are we going?" Mom: "Today is a special day, we are going to your new school so that we can meet your teacher, meet our new friends and have lunch together, kinda like a party." Jett: (tears) "But I don't anybody, no one is going to like me, I don't want to meet new people, I don't like that other school, I want to go to my old school. Why do I have to go!?"

Oh, boy! I had no idea he was nervous too. I thought he was excited. I had to cuddle him for about 15 min and tell him that it was all going to be okay. I told that it was okay to be scared to meet new people.

After all the tears and grocery shopping we finally made it to Main Street Elementary Meet and Greet. Whew! It went really great. I was nervous about a lot of stupid things like..."I hope I am not overdressed?" "I hope Jettson does not cry." "I hope Chris is able to come because I am going to feel really alone." Well, after a few minutes I scanned the room and I was not overdressed I fit right in, Jettson did not cry at all not one time and my husband, my hero, my best friend, was there just as he promised.

We met new friends, old friends and familiar faces from mom's groups we have belonged to and other local activities. It was great! I am so excited. We are going to have a great year. Look for tomorrow's First Day photos and how it all went.
