Thanksgiving Vacation

We had the best week. My in laws own a home in Lake Don Pedro. It is close to everything. Yosemite, Sonora, Columbia, Jamestown, Angles Camp, (which is where Mark Twain had a cabin and spent the remaining years of his life and wrote a few famous books there) and few other little mining towns. It was so wonderful to be disconnected! I accidentally left my cell phone at home but it was the best thing in the world! No Internet and no cell phone! It was heaven. I felt like I was on a real vacation. I did not miss my usual trappings.

We did not have to go far to find wonderful inexpensive activities. No hustle or bustle just pure outdoor and indoor fun. I cooked every night except last night. My mother in law and I thought that it would be fun to eat out and give ourselves a much deserved break from the kitchen. Don Pedro recently opened a Golf & Country Club. We decided that would be the place to go for dinner. It was the worst meal I have ever had and to top it off I found a bug in my pasta. It was just gross (for lack of a better word). The up side (if you want to see it that way) was I did not find the bug until the end of meal and I had already let the boys eat off my plate (it was a pasta buffet) when I told the waitress she compted the whole meal and I walked out only paying $3. I was happy and grossed out at the same time. The best part was I did not have to cook another meal or clean up!

The boys loved playing outside everyday without being told "no" or "wait for mommy." The were able to be boys and go outside and play. I was able to get in two really good walks. It was so nice to be able to leave and not have to think about who was going to get to watch the boys. There was always someone available to care for the kiddos. We had a few day trips to Columbia and Sonora. It just felt like the holidays up there. It was cold, cozy and fun. Tomorrow, I am going to start the Christmas decorating. Deck the Halls, if you will.

It sounds like you had a great time- I would love a few days to unplug! I can't wait to see pictures of your decked halls! :)
