Here is my take on the recent news that S. Palin's 17 year old daughter is pregnant.
First, let me start by clarifying that I am not a party member. I am a non-partisan participant in the political system. I will not ever identify with a party. Politics has nothing to do with my value system. I really try to keep the two separate. I do not vote based on my values. I vote based on the theory of politics. I am a Christian by choice, but I do not let it interfere with politics. I think it is a big mistake.
However, the Republican party is for conservatives who have Christian values and if you are a Christian then you are a Republican? Crazy! If you are a Christian you do not believe in sex, you do not believe in abortion, you live your life in the cleanest way possible. Or you are super rich Capitalist, who does not care for the poor and dying. Right?
If you are a Democrat. You are a bleeding heart liberal. Willing to steal from the rich to save the poor by raising taxes on the middle class. Have sex at everyone else's cost (abortion), allow the government into every area of your life because there is no way that the people can think and govern themselves. Make up a program as a solution to every life problem.
The above of course are my opinions of the Super Parties. I think they both stink! They are both wrong. Neither side is right. No matter what Obama says, I seriously, believe that he believes the only way to save America is raise our taxes. "Um, sir, why don't you cut Congresses' salaries and try to fix the budget with the money you already have???" You would get my vote if you would have said something like that in your speech last week. But no---you said you would raise taxes on the rich...yes, lets make people who have been responsible for getting jobs and working really hard pay for people who have decided to make homelessness a vocation (at least they do here in Santa Cruz). This is my biggest beef with Obama. I want to love Obama---I want to believe that he can really make a difference---however, I am sadden to write that I think he is just a puppet for the D party. McCain is going to pick up where Bush has left off and we know that ship has already sunk. I do not & will not vote for McCain. Even though he picked a women for a running mate I believe he did it as a stunt, not because he believes that for one second that this women really can lead our country. He did it to win over the Hilary sympathisers. Depressing. They both SUCK!
All of which brings me to the subject of Mrs. Palin's recent revelation that he 17 year old daughter is pregnant. I read about Mrs. Palin when McCain announced his decision to choose the 44 year old Beauty Queen as his running mate. I read that she is the Gov. of Alaska, she is a marathon runner, fishes, hunts, was the mayor of her former home town in Alaska, she has 5 children, one of which is only 4months old with Down Syndrome (she was back at the State Office 3 days after giving birth!). WOW! What a women. She has raised the bar so high that I think that it makes me feel very inadequate as a wife, mother & woman. I think any women would be proud to call this women her sister. However, I have given this recent news of her daughter's pregnancy some thought. I do not wholly blame this mother, I just wonder, "if you are running a State with the possibility of running a country---how can you devote 100% of your time to raising 5 children one of which has a disability with the attention that they all need and be a Political figure?" I have two children and I can barely find the time to do the things I love---like blog. I believe that when a mother has young children she really needs to focus on her children until they are able to care for themselves. Do not get me wrong. I admire Mrs. Palin. However, I think she might be a little over her head at this time in her life. Perhaps, she should be a little less driven & more focused on her home life.

Very Well said!! You and I think alike and share the same view points. Great blog!
Interesting thoughts. I have to agree with you in that neither party has the answers.
O.k. but do we ask the men if they have enough time for their families? Why does each family have to fit in a stereotypical box? If she has a successful career and he likes to take care of kids who are we to judge them? Teenagers get pregnant all the time despite their parents' views or morals. I strongly believe that we give our children the best upbringing that we can, equip them with tools to deal with the real world and then cross our fingers and hope for the best. Genes and tendencies go way beyond our power as parents, and sometimes even the best, loving families raise criminals. I think it's all out of our control.
Of course, I agree with you about the parties. This whole system is so full of B.S. it makes me physically ill to watch the charades on t.v. So are you just not going to vote? Somehow that doesn't seem right to me either. I don't have an answer, and it makes me really upset. I'm just glad I don't have to listen to Hilary's speeches for the next 4 years!
You should run for office! I'll be your VP!!
I love discussing this stuff. I am most likely voting for Ron Paul as he is the man who most reflects my political views. I cannot bring my self to vote for either candidate. I would be so humliated to say that voted for either of these two men. I believe in small government. I want the state where I live, work & raise a family have the power to legislate what I can & cannot do. These are tough times with very tough issues and decisions to make.
