Strawberries, Jam, & Other July Adventures

I have a canning bug. I made my first batch of plum jam about two weeks ago. I did the process all wrong but my jam turned out great. I took the boys to Gizdich Ranch last week to go strawberry picking. I took Jett last year. We had so much fun. I had wanted to make jam last year but it never happend. We picked 11 lbs. of strawberries! I made 17 jars of strawberry jam! I still have more plums and apricots to work into a jam this week as well.

I am wanting the jam for gifts for Christmas, b-days and hostess gifts. I love getting homemade things and I hope others feel the same way. I am also knitting & crocheting up a storm to have a supply on hand for the holidays. I love working with my hands. When life throws you strawberries make jam---when it throws you yarn make a scarf!

One of my favorite childhood memories is picking strawberries and spending summer afternoons making them into jam! It's awesome that you include Jett in the process when he's so young! Fun!

It has been fun! I really want my boys to be well rounded. I know I don't have girls but I see no reason why they can't know how to pick berries and other food and then learn how to cook it or can. We are looking forward to picking apples at the end of August. Apple Pie---yum!
