Schedules

Everyday I wake up and feel like I am in that movie "Groundhog Day." My boys are the type that function with a pretty predictable schedule. We wake up at 7 am every morning get dressed, eat breakfast clean up breakfast, potty, brush teeth then Jett is picked up by the little school bus at 7:50 am. Owen goes down for his first nap at 8:30am. This is when I get morning stuff out of the way, laundry started, dinner started, phone calls, check e-mails etc. Owen wakes up about 1-2 hours later then he and I do mommy Owen stuff like grocery shopping, park, library etc. Lunch is 12:00 pm. Jett comes home from school about 12:20pm he and I quickly unpack from his day go to the potty get a snack and then he is off to his bedroom for rest time. Owen has his second nap from about 1-4pm I usually get a little rest in myself. Jett and I usually have a snack at 3:00 pm read books, color or something and I finish getting dinner ready. Owen wakes up about 4:00 pm. At 4:30pm we go outside for a walk or just play outside before dinner. Dinner is a 5:00 pm, baths are at 6:00 pm and bed is at 7:00 pm. Chris and I usually drink a glass of wine together discuss our day (mine being the same). We end our day about 10:00 pm.

I do try to make it a little different each day. Monday is Library, Starbucks, Playground, Play date, Aquarium, Beach, or Pool Day (Jett is home on Mondays so I try to do something fun), Tuesday is Pleasure Pizza night (they have $1 night every Tuesday), Wednesday night I go knitting, Thursday night is Chris' night to do whatever (he usually has Santa Cruz County Search and Rescue Meetings), Friday night is Movie night and Jett gets to go to bed at 7:30pm, Saturday is Mommy Daddy Night and Sunday is Sunday Dinner night (we usually have a small dinner party at least every other Sunday night but I always make a big Sunday dinner).

This is what we pretty much do every single day. The weekends are a little different but not much. Now if anyone knows me or knows my sign....then you know this schedule thing is not really me. I am a Sagittarius which means I live for and thrive on spontaneity doing the same thing everyday is just not something I really enjoy. I don't even like wearing the same clothes. However, with kids they have to have a schedule and structure it helps them organize their time because they have no other way of telling time other than what they do everyday. At least this is what I am finding with my children. It sure does make my time go much quicker...before I know it...it is bathtime and everyone is going to bed, again.

In any event, these are the thoughts I woke up to this morning that is was the same day all over again. Sometimes it makes me feel clausterphobic yet, I know that is this is just another "phase" of life I am in. It will pass before I know it and I will look back and fondly miss my "schedule."
