Much to write About...

Here I am and I guess I'm going to spill my guts....

Last month (August) I decided at the last minute to get the depo provera shot. Dumb, dumb, dumb!! I wish I would have researched it before I did it. I have had the worst side effects and this is after my doctor told me there would not be any side effects...haha...bull s$!t. It has been bad...depression (which I do not have an issue with normally), stomach cramps daily, headaches, sadness, anger, intolerance for any noise, super fatigued. It's like PMS on steriods. I have had a period for over 13 days (again, not normal for me) and worst of all there have been thoughts of suicide (please, don't get freaked...it has passed...but there was a day last week when I was very low and it scared the hell out me) and here's the kicker....lack of libido! The whole reason I got the damn shot was to have more romantic moments with hubs without the stress of pregnancy!  I have read so many horror stories since I got the shot. My usual fun self has all but disappeared.

If anyone has had an issue with this shot please send me and email I would love to know about it. Also...this whole ordeal has given me a lot of compassion for those who suffer with depression. Not fun, not fun at all.

Needless to say, I will not continue with this terrible form of birth control. It has wrecked havoc on my health.

Poor hubs, he has had to hang in there with me on this roller coaster ride and kids too. I have come out of the woods, as of yesterday. The symptoms seem to be in sync with my cycle...but like I said..it's like PMS gone very, very wrong. I'm guessing I have one more wave to ride out...next month's cycle, then I will have to wait another 2-3 months for the birth control to cycle it's way out of my system. Whew!

OK....TMI for you, I'm sure...however, I needed to get that off my chest. The good news is, I'm feeling sooooo much better right now. I know...I need to go back to the doc just to make sure all is well and good. I swear being a woman sometimes is a huge pain.

***********************************************
Aside from all that the boys and I had lovely weekend filled with lots of laughter and fun activities.

On Saturday the boys and I went to visit my cousin Sarah and her brood. They moved out to a country estate in Lockwood, CA. It's a tight knit community of 279 people. We had a fun time just hanging out, chatting, eating, and knitting and attending a community hoe down of sorts.

Look at these two! Cousin Capri and Owen. They are about a month and half apart in age. They were so cute hanging out on the couch together watching what else...Spongebob.

They were having a chat about whatever it is that 3 year olds talk about.

Sweetie pie of all...McKenzie. Cannot believe this wee little thing has turned 10 already!!

Wish I would have gotten more shots...but as I have wrote before I have a hard time managing a camera and kids...those two things do not always go hand in hand for me ;)

I finished Jett's knit blanket that he wanted for his doll Kaylee. He has been a stuffed animal, baby doll kind mood lately, along with his fauxhawk and tatoos...heehee...guess he trying to "find himself." BTW...we went to the fabric store after school on Friday and he picked out the yarn he wanted for his baby blanket. All his idea and doing.

Jett's Fauxhawk.

That's what's been going on in my little world. How is your world going?

Another reason I'm glad I don't ever have to use birth control again! I keep finding blessings in disguise. I can, however, relate to you on the "PMS on steroids" bit - that happened to me during fertility treatments and ever since, my PMS is way worse than it used to be (seriously, I never used to have an issue with PMS and now I do), but nothing compared to the crazy hormones I took. Phew!

More women need to share these types of issues concerning women's health.Thank you for being honest and letting us know that we are not alone in this.We are having a similiar experience with this birth control shot and just keep hoping it will get better. We are now going to look into switching. Thanks again for helping us realise that it is not going to get better, but possibly worse. It is time to stop this !

Thanks for being so honest, Christy. I will pass this on to my two daughters. Let me know if you need any help in the next few months--PLEASE!

Damn, Christy, that's awful and I'm so glad you are OK. I hate any kind of drug, so I opted for an IUD. Extremely effective, no hormones, no side effects, no fuss. I had it for almost 10 years and it was great. If this is an option for you I'd highly recommend it.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with depo- it's the exact opposite for me! I love it. Lots of love and hugs! I hope things look up soon.
