In the past Hubs and celebrated Valentine's Day...we did all the cheesy VDay stuff, dinners, massages, little blue Tiffany's boxes. However, now that we have kids we tend to just give eachother a kiss and be done with it. Hubs and I have lots of time alone (believe it or not...the boys go to bed at about 7pm everynight, which has always left us with our evenings to ourselves) we treat everyday like Valentine's Day ;) I get into decorating for the fun day (just ask hubs...he always says, "give the girl a theme and she will decorate for it") especially since Jettson has been in school. With little kids these holidays give them something to look forward to and helps them mark the days on the calendar.
Last night I made a special dinner and a special dessert. Here are some of the photos from our yummy Boston Cream Pie dessert. I used the recipe from Susan Branch's Vineyard Season's cookbook. It was pretty easy. There were quite a few steps but overall it was not hard to do. Everyone loved it!

I know it looks a little funny---but it was, oh, so delcious and rich!
I love the look on Jettson's face...he could not wait to tear into that cake. Owen kept saying it was his birthday cake.
I hope everyone had a fantastic Valentine's Day. xoC

It's amazing that your kiddos are in bed at 7pm every night. My son must just be a night owl.
Anyway, I love all your crafty projects! I get weary just THINKING about doing stuff like that, so I love that you post photos so I can live vicariously through you. :D
Thanks Mel. It is my outlet. I know...I feel lucky that the boys go to bed at 7pm. And I know it is luck. At least I got lucky in something ;)xo
Christy, I so LOVE the fact that you decorate for the holidays, and bring your own special touch to each occasion.
What a blessing you are to your children and husband!!
Love you, Mary xoxo
Oh, yeah! I would totally be on board with putting a screeching halt on those little blue Tiffany's boxes, and happily settle for a kiss, instead. pffth.
I do think you're lost your mind! ;)
Great pics, your little boy is adorable. He looks like he's about to dive in head first! hehe
