It's official...the Christmas holidays are in full swing. Every December hubs is gone for the first half of the month. In some ways it is kinda hard, however, by December 20th he is off for the holidays until January 4th. I can live with that and so can the boys. Meanwhile, I fill up our calendar with all sorts of Christmas activities. We went to the Lighted Boat Parade last night at the Harbor in Santa Cruz. Unfortuneately, I did not take my camera. I lost my SD card. I got a new one today. Then this morning we went to Seymore Marine Lab for Jingle Shells. We saw some sea creatures and made some ornaments. It is fun to take the boys out and hear them ooh and ahh at all the Christmas decorations. Owen is totally into the holiday this year. He says "ho, ho, ho...Merry Christymas!" It cracks me up.
Here are some random photos of all the decorating that I have been doing this past week.
Our tree. We got a live Noble Fir. We usually, use our fake Noble Fir. It is 6ft and I just did not have the room for it this year.
The Mantle.
I love using Jett's artwork.
I made this wreath today with my friend, Stevie, who also happens to be my neighbor. She is a professional florist. She was kind enough to let me do my own thing. I am sure she was laughing the whole time...cuz, I just stuck branches in here and there and then used my handy, dandy, glue gun. The pine cones and moss I collected on one of our family hikes, I then spray painted them gold and tucked them in the wreath.
Outside out front door. I have been watching a lot of Tracy Porter videos the past couple of weeks getting some decorating tips and inspiration. I love the imperfect, natural and quirky appeal this "vinette" gives.
Jett and I still have more to do...over the next couple of days. He loves to decorate as much as I do, and I really do try to let him have a hand in it...but it is also a little challenging...since his "6 year old" style and my "adult" style differ...but this year his tastes are maturing a little and he is willing to take a step back and really participate with me, and ask me what I think. He made snowflakes this afternoon and placed them in the tree. I just know that one day his house is going to be decked out at the holidays! That's what it's all about anyway.
Jett's Snowflakes.

everything looks so Christmasy! I'll have to do some catching up ... putting up the tree this week when the girls can help. The children become as attached to every ornament and we all get so excited as we unwrap each one. I'm sure Jett is feeling the same familiarity which makes it so special. Sounds like you had a good weekend and you're in your element!
