Friends
One of my friends wrote about adult friendship in a recent blog. I made a new friend over a year ago. We met at a mutual friends' kids' birthday party. We hit it off and have slowly built a friendship. We are more than acquaintances now. We are real friends. It's interesting how making new friends at this age and stage in life is not what it was like when I was a kid. When I was a kid I would meet someone new and they would instantly be my best friend. But now it is different. There is so much more to it. You find out if you are compatible as friends then as moms, then you have to see if the kids get along and lastly, the husbands. I am happy to say that our friends the Matty's are keepers. We have gone through the process and now we are building the friendship. I was wondering when we would meet a new family and get to know them. We have lots of friends. Family and people we have known all of our lives. Since having kids we have met a lot of different parents and families but we have never really connected not like with the Matty's. It feels like we have known each other for a long time. When you get that feeling that's when you know you have some real friends.
