She's here and she is beautiful! Bella Mae born on August 5th at 12:05pm, 8lbs, 1 0z, 20.5 inches long. Melissa had a wonderful birth. She delivered via c-section. I went to visit my sister and Baby Bella last night. Mama and baby are in nursing bliss. Both are cozy & warm. My sister has never looked better. She is resting well. I am happy to announce that Bella only has a cleft lip and her palate is undisturbed. It is a huge answer to prayer. When the palate and lip are affected it is way more difficult in terms of feeding, operations, & all around development. You can imagine our joy! Bella is nursing well. This is important not just for bonding but for her weight gain. She has to be 10+ lbs in order to have surgery.
I am so proud of our family and of her. We have all rallied around her & her husband. It is a wonderful thing to have family. There are times when I have had a hard time with family because they have been more of burden to me then a blessing. We are all experiencing what it means to have family support in the right context. When the chips are down your family is there to support you and lift you up until you have the strength to do it yourself.
We are grateful.
